Although qualifications are important Harley knows experience is essential when working in the equine industry. Harley has been around horses since birth, spending her time fascinated in the behavioral aspects of horses, being faced with the challenge of backing 3 ponies at the age of just 10, producing pleasant well rounded ponies. Moving onto her next horse she found herself a retired racehorse aged 4 who had just recently come off the race track. The horse named Lunar was a difficult and challenging mare being extremely sharp and at times dangerous. Being that Harley has always loved the behavioral side of horses she thoroughly enjoyed delving down into the working mind of Lunar and this is where Harleys passion for equine therapy started. Finding that Lunar was uncomfortable and unable to canter without discomfort, which presented in bad behaviour and resistance, she requested the help of a equine therapist. Although, resistant through the first few sessions after some persistence Lunar accepted the work being done and quickly after the issues she was having from holding her stress and tension in the lumbar area were resolved, she had a complete turn around and began flying into canter. Harley began her working life at a livery yard with extremely high standards working her way from general staff up to head girl, this is the place she thanks for her meticulous attention to detail. Next she moved onto working for Marietta Fox-Pitt gaining a wealth of knowledge into the riding aspect of top competition horses and riding to a high level.
More recently she has worked for a trainer riding a wide range of horses and helping them find loving homes before finally working at a riding school teaching and helping producing youngsters where she has found another passion of teaching riders to work their horses correctly and with consideration to the conformation, posture and way of going, helping to prevent injury and discomfort to the horse and develop the riders ability.
All these different experiences and qualifications have provided her with an even further burning fire of passion to understand horses physiology as well as psychology and help humans and horses to work in harmony with their welfare at the fore front.
